How do I sign up?

Patients have two ways to become a MyHealth user:

1) Ask to sign up in your doctor's office.  You will sign an authorization form and set up a user ID and password.

2) Go to www.EssentiaMyHealth.org and click "No Access Code?  Request access now."  You will complete an electronic authorization, and you will receive an activation code and directions for getting started via US Mail.  Use this code to sign up and create your own User ID and password.

Whom do I contact if I have further questions?

Please call our MyHealth Account Support Line at 1-888-868-9292.

When can I see my test results in MyHealth?

Most test results are released to your MyHealth account within (1) business day after results have been reported. Any questions regarding lab results should be directed to your doctor's office.

Please note that, to protect your privacy, certain test results, diagnoses, conditions, and other information may not be included in your MyHealth record.  Posting of information is at the discretion of your individual physician(s).

Who do I contact if I have a question about information I see on MyHealth?

MyHealth pulls information directly from your electronic medical record. If you have a question about your lab results, current health issues, preventive care, medications, allergies or any other clinical information, contact your doctor's office.  Please not that you should never use MyHealth electronic communications in an urgent situation or emergency.  You should contact your physician's office by phone, go to a hospital emergency room, or call 911.

If I send a message to my doctor's office, when can I expect a reply?

You will generally receive an answer within two (2) business days.

Does MyHealth give me access to specialists I see in addition to my primary care provider?

MyHealth is being made available gradually throughout the Essentia Health System. After all primary care sites are able to offer the MyHealth service, it will become available at our specialty clinic offices.

Where do e-mail messages to my doctor's office go?

E-mails are first received by your doctor's office staff, just like a phone call. Your questions will be promptly addressed by nursing or support staff whenever possible, and forwarded to your doctor when needed. Replies are sent within two (2) business days. Any message sent to your doctor through MyHealth may become a permanent part of your electronic medical record.

Can I view my children's health record in MyHealth?

Proxy access allows parents (or guardians) to view their minor child's health record after a proxy access authorization form is submitted and approved. The level of access granted to a proxy is based on the child’s age. If your child is under the age of 12, you can gain full access to your child’s MyHealth record. If your child is between the ages of 12-17, you will be granted partial access, unless the child signs the form granting you full access. Children over the age of 18 are adults and must authorize parents access to their MyHealth account.

Why can't I see all of my teenager's MyHealth account information?

Some of your teenager's health information is protected by state law. You will be able to view immunization and allergy records, request appointments and send e-mail messages to your child's doctor's office.

Can I ask questions regarding a family member from my own MyHealth account?

No. You should never use your MyHealth account to ask advice about another person; this could be very harmful both to the other person and to your health care, since the information you supply may become part of your own permanent medical record.

Can I access my spouse's, my parent's or another adult's health information?

No, unless the patient grants you proxy access. A proxy access authorization form must be submitted and approved prior to such access being granted.

Where can I update my personal information (e.g., e-mail or change my password)?

Once you have logged into your MyHealth account, you can update your email address or change your password using the "My Preferences" tab on the MyHealth Home page.

Is MyHealth secure?

Privacy of your health information is our prime concern. Secure access codes, personal ID's, and passwords (controlled by you) are features to keep your information secure. MyHealth uses the latest encryption technology to prevent unwarranted access. Unlike conventional e-mail, all MyHealth messaging is done while you are securely logged on to our website, which keeps your communication with your healthcare provider secure.

Is my privacy protected?

MyHealth is a secure internet site and your information is protected under the same privacy laws that guard your medical records. Only you, and those you have authorized, have access to your information. We use the latest safeguards including firewalls, passwords and encryption to protect your information.

There are things that only you can do to protect the confidentiality of your information in MyHealth, such as keeping your activation code, user name and password completely confidential and logging out of MyHealth before walking away from your computer.

I was logged out of MyHealth, what happened?

To protect your privacy and the security of your information, your MyHealth session ends if your keyboard remains idle for 15 minutes. It is recommended that you log out of your MyHealth session if you need to leave your computer for even a short period of time.

What do I need to use MyHealth?

Along with an activation letter and access code from you doctor's office, you will also need access to a computer connected to the Internet with up-to-date Internet software (such as Internet Explorer).

Is my access code my user ID?

No. Your access code is required for first-time MyHealth access. It expires after that one-time login or after 60 days if unused. Once you logon successfully, you will be required to create a User ID and password. That User ID and password will be required to access MyHealth each time. Please keep this information in a secure, private location.

My access code does not work, what should I do?

For your security, your access code expires after 60 days and is no longer valid after the first time you use it. If you need a new access code, you can contact your doctor's office directly to obtain a new access code letter. You may call our MyHealth Patient Support Line at 1-888-868-9292 with any problems.

I am not receiving emails from MyHealth, what should I do?

If emails from the MyHealth website are failing to reach your Inbox, check your junk/spam mail folder. Email filters will, at times, cause communications from the MyHealth website to be routed improperly. In order to prevent this from happening, be sure to add MyHealth to your list of allowed senders in your email client (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.).
